After you connect a ViewSonic P817 monitor, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) does not detect it properly when it searches for new hardware; instead, it identifies the monitor simply as a Plug and Play monitor.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior and ensure the correct monitor selection, select the driver manually. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the desktop, and then click Display.
- Click the Settings tab, and then click the Advanced button.
- Click the Monitor tab, and then click the Change button.
- Select Specify the location of the driver (advanced), and then click Next.
- Either click Removable Media (Floppy, CD-ROM) and insert the ViewSonic compact disc, or click Specify a location and type the path of your Windows\Inf folder, for example C:\Windows\Inf.
- Click ViewSonic P817, and then click Finish.
