Network Adapter Driver Is Not Recognized by Add New Hardware Wizard (250150)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install your network adapter driver by using the manufacturer-provided driver disk in the Add New Hardware Wizard, you may be unable to do so. Also, you may receive the following error message: The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the driver for the network adapter you are trying to install has not been certified by Microsoft.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, verify that the network adapter you are trying to install is listed on the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). To do so, please see the following Microsoft Web site: NOTE: If your network adapter is not listed on the HCL, contact your hardware manufacturer to inquire about the availability of a Microsoft certified device driver.
