When you upgrade to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) from the factory-installed operating system on a Compaq Presario 5670, the DVDeck software does not capture video from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1394 device.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the factory-installed Adaptec IEEE 1394 Host Controller driver has been replaced with the Windows Me default for the device.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the Update Device Driver Wizard to replace the Windows Me 1394 Host Controller driver with the original installed by Compaq. To do so, follow these steps: - Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then click the Device Manager tab.
- Select the IEEE 1394 controllers.
- Select the Adaptec AHA-8945CP 1394 PCI Host Adapter, and then click Properties.
- Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Device Driver.
- In the Update Device Driver Wizard, select Specify the Location of the driver, and then click Next.
- Select Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, select the driver that you want, and then click Next.
- Click Show all hardware, click microVIDEO DV 300 IEEE-1394 Controller, and then click Next.
- Click Next twice more, and then click Finish.
MORE INFORMATION
When you upgrade the Compaq Presario 5670 factory-installed operating system to Windows Me, the Ohci1394 file replaces the Wn1394.vxd file.
The DVDeck software requires the Wn1394.vxd file included in the factory 1394 Host Controller driver. After the device driver has been changed to the original factory one, the 1394 Host Controller driver cannot be changed in Windows Me without first renaming the file 1394.ori to 1394.inf.
