This article was previously published under Q249779 SYMPTOMS
When you receive a Microsoft Visual Basic run-time (.vbs) file attachment in an e-mail message and double-click the attachment icon, Outlook does not save the file to your hard disk before running it.
Due to new types of viruses, these files should be saved to the hard disk first so your anti-virus software can scan them before you run the file. If the file is not saved to your hard disk first, there is no way for the anti-virus software to scan it.
