OFF97: SR-2 Patch Does Not Update Localized Version of Office 97 SR-1 (249247)

SYMPTOMS

When you apply the Office 97 SR-2 patch, Sr2bof97.exe, to Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint are not updated.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are both true:
  • You are using one of the following localized versions of Microsoft Office:
    • Brazilian
    • Danish
    • Dutch
    • Finnish
    • French
    • Portuguese (Portugal)
    • Norwegian
    • Swedish
    • Spanish
  • Every program was installed in a separate folder. For example, Microsoft Excel was installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Excel instead of the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office.

RESOLUTION

A new version of the Sr2bof97.exe file is available in the following location for the languages listed in the "Cause" section of this article:

The updated Sr2bof97.exe file will have the following file attributes or later:
