PUB2000: Access Violation When You Paste an Image into a Publication (249094)

When you paste a Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) image into a Microsoft
Publisher 2000 publication while a table in the publication is selected,
you receive the following error message:
Unhandled Exception in Mspub.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation.
When you click OK or Cancel, Publisher quits.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Publisher 2000 can only receive data from
the Microsoft Windows clipboard in Rich Text format while a table in the
publication is selected.
A DIB image is a binary file that Publisher 2000 cannot receive from the
Windows clipboard while a table is selected.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, make sure that a table is not selected when
you paste a DIB image into Publisher 2000.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
