SYMPTOMS

When performing the microphone check for an online broadcast, you may receive the following error message:
The audio device doesn't support PCM capture at sampling rate requested.
NOTE: Modifying the sampling rate through Control Panel in Windows does not help resolve this problem.

CAUSE

This is a known problem with the Au8830 Vortex Soundblaster Pro emulator on the following computer systems:
  • Sony Viao Digital Studio PCV-E518DS
  • Sony Vaio PCV-E302DS

STATUS

This problem occurs when you use any of the computer systems listed in the "Cause" section of this article with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
