Verify That Your Computer Meets the Minimum System Requirements

To verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements required to play Links LS 2000 or Links LS Classic:
  1. Start Links LS 2000 or Links LS Classic.
  2. On the Links LS startup screen, click Options.
  3. Under System, click System Info.

    Under Performance, the Overall Rating should be higher than 100 percent. If the Overall Rating is not higher than 100 percent, your computer may not meet the minimum system requirements required to play Links LS 2000.

    In addition, if any field in the System Info window is displayed in red, your computer may not meet the minimum system requirements.

Press the F12 Key When You Swing

Poor swing performance may be an issue that is specific to the swing type or caused by the mouse driver.

To determine if poor swing performance is caused by the mouse driver, press the F12 key to swing. If your swing performance improves, you may need to install or update to a Microsoft-compatible mouse or mouse driver.

Disable Mouse Pointer Schemes

Your mouse may be configured to use a pointer scheme that interferes with game play.

To disable the pointer scheme for your mouse:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Click the Pointers tab.
  4. Under Scheme, click None.
  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  6. Close Control Panel.

Update Your Video Driver

The video driver for the video adapter installed in your computer may be outdated. To obtain the latest video driver for your video adapter, contact the manufacturer of your video adapter.

To identify the video adapter that is installed in your computer, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Identify the Manufacturer and Model of Your Video Adapter

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. On the Device Manager tab, double-click Display Adapters. The resulting branch displays the manufacturer and model of your video adapter.

Reduce the Screen Resolution in Links LS 2000

Links LS 2000 may be configured to run at a screen resolution that is too high for your computer. To reduce the screen resolution in Links LS 2000:
  1. Start the game.
  2. On the Links LS 2000 startup screen, click Options.
  3. Under System, click Display Setup.
  4. Under Display Mode, click 800 x 600 16 bit, (65 thousand colors).
  5. Click OK, and then click Close.

Defragment the Hard Disk

To defragment the hard disk on a Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98-based computer, run Disk Defragmenter.

To run Disk Defragmenter:
  1. Quit any unnecessary programs that are running on the computer before you start Links LS 2000 or Links LS Classic. To do this:
    1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box.
    2. To quit a program, click the program, and then click End Task.

      NOTE: Quit all programs except Explorer and Systray (which are components of Microsoft Windows).
    3. Repeat steps A and B until you have quit all unnecessary programs that are running on your computer.
  2. Click Start, point to Programs, and then point to Accessories.
  3. Point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.

    NOTE: In the Which drive do you want to defragment? box, click Drive C Physical Drive.
  4. Click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen to defragment the hard disk.
To defragment the hard disk on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, install and run a third-party disk defragmenting program.
