SUMMARY

The Windows 2000 server family evaluation product End User License Agreement (EULA) provides the customer with 10 Terminal Services Client Access Licenses (TS CALs), together with 10 Server Client Access Licenses.

The 10 TS CALs are good for 90 days from the date the client first connects to the evaluation Windows 2000 Terminal Server. A maximum of ten concurrent connections using any connection method can be made to the server, including File, Print, Web, and Terminal Services.

MORE INFORMATION

Terminal Services Licensing
A new licensing technology for managing TS CALs is required when you connect to Terminal Services in Application Server mode using the, retail, non-evaluation Windows 2000 Server products.

Terminal Services Licensing provides the system administrator with tools to manage TS CAL deployment and ensures that all clients that gain access to Windows 2000 Terminal Services are properly licensed with the necessary TS CALs.

Customers that evaluate Windows 2000 Terminal Services in Application Server mode using an Evaluation program do not need to install or activate Terminal Services Licensing on a Windows 2000 Server. You make use of the ten TS CALs provided by the EULA by using a 90-day grace period for Terminal Services, which is built into the Windows 2000 Server program.

NOTE: Do not install TS CALs on a Windows 2000 Server, Evaluation version. If you install purchased TS CALs on a Terminal Services Licensing server that resides on an Evaluation version of Windows 2000 Server, you lose those licenses when the evaluation period expires. Note that the Terminal Server logs the System error 1004 during the evaluation period. This system error can be ignored when you are using an Evaluation version of Windows 2000.
