PhD: Inserted Pictures Are Not Displayed at Expected Size (248585)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000

This article was previously published under Q248585

SYMPTOMS

When you insert an image with a resolution of more than 75 ppi (pixels per inch) into Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000, the image that is displayed is smaller than the width and height that you specified in pixel units.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because PhotoDraw 2000 preserves the width and height of the image in inches.

RESOLUTION

To display an image in the width and height that you specify in pixels per inch, use one of the following methods.

Change the Image Resolution to Match the Display

Use an image editing program, such as Microsoft Image Composer or Adobe Photoshop, to change the resolution of the image to 75 ppi.

For instructions about how to change the image resolution in your image editing program, please see the printed or online documentation provided with the image editing program.

Resize the Image

Use the sizing handles to resize the image in PhotoDraw 2000:
  1. After you insert the image, click to select it.
  2. Move your pointer over one of the sizing handles (the small circles) that appear on the corners and sides of the selected image until the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow.
  3. Drag the sizing handle to a new position to resize the image.
NOTE: You can use the green circle to rotate the picture.

Size the Picture to Fit the Background

To size the picture to fit the background in PhotoDraw 2000:
  1. Right-click the picture, and then click Resize.
  2. In the Resize dialog box, click Fit Picture to Background.
The picture is resized according to the dimensions of the background.

NOTE: You can change the dimensions of the background by changing the values in the Width and Height boxes.

If you change these values, make sure that the Maintain proportions check box is selected to maintain the proper proportion of the image.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000.
