When you attempt to open a Web in FrontPage 2000, the following error message may appear:
The current operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error has occurred. For details see C:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\temp\wecerr.txt.

(Where "username" is the user you are logged on as).

NOTE: This operation works fine in FrontPage 98 and FrontPage 97.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.

MORE INFORMATION

This issue primarily affects a server that hosts multiple sites by using multiple IP addresses. IP addresses that are not bound to the default Web site cannot be opened by the NetBIOS name of the computer or by the DNS name of the computer. There are no WINS or DNS mappings for the extra Web sites; therefore, using the IP address is the only available option.
