SYMPTOMS

When you enter a formula into the Microsoft Office Spreadsheet Component, you receive an error message similar to the following:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
FRONTPG caused an invalid page fault in module MSOWC.DLL at 0137:3c8c9de4.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You use a formula similar to the following to call a VB Script or JavaScript function located on your Web page:

    Document.Script.<Name of Function>

    where <Name of Function> is the name of the function that you want to call from the spreadsheet component.

    -and-

  • You are using Microsoft FrontPage to create your Web page.

    -and-

  • You are using FrontPage in the Normal view.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
