You cannot modify or customize the alternate text on FrontPage-generated navigation bars.

FrontPage navigation bars display alternate text on each of the buttons. This text is automatically set to the value of the navigation title.
In order to change the alternate text, you must change the title of the page in Navigation view to reflect the alternate text value that you want.
For more information about changing the page labels on a navigation bar, click Microsoft FrontPage Help on the Help menu, type change page title in the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
