The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0
This article was previously published under Q247958 We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version 6.0 running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. IIS 6.0 significantly increases Web infrastructure security. For more information about IIS security-related topics, visit the following Microsoft Web site: SUMMARY
When you install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack (NTOP), the root directory of the Default Web Site is Inetpub\Wwwroot. During setup, in the Inetpub folder, the Mailroot subdirectory is created with the following subfolders used by the SMTP service:
- BadMail
- Drop
- MailBox
- PickUp
- Queue
- Route
- SortTemp
If you move the Inetpub directory to another drive or folder and delete the original Inetpub directory, when you restart your Web server, the folders for the SMTP Service are re-created in the Inetpub directory.
