SYMPTOMS
When you try to install one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Installer Terminated
Prematurely
Error 1308
Error 2263
The installation package
could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to make sure this is a
valid installation package.
Installation wizard
was interrupted.
When you click
OK, Setup quits.
RESOLUTION
Note Microsoft Windows 95 does not meet the minimum system requirements for Works 7 and Works Suite 2002 and later. Therefore, if your operating system is Windows 95, these steps only apply to the earlier versions that are listed at the beginning of this article.
To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order that they appear. After each step, try to install the product. If the installation is successful, go to Step 7. If the installation is not successful, proceed to the next step.
Step 1: Clean Boot

Step 2: Install DCOM
For Windows 95 computers only, install DCOM for Windows 95. For Windows 98 computers, install the DCOM98 update.

Step 3: Update Microsoft Internet Explorer

Step 4: Install the Latest Service Pack
In Windows 95 or Windows 98, install the latest service pack for MDAC version 5.5. To do so, visit the following MSDN Web site:
Step 5: Install the Latest Windows Service Pack
In Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP, install the latest Windows Service pack.

Step 6: Install the Program
To install the program,
insert the CD and follow the steps that appear on the screen.
