XCON: DSAccess Use of Global Catalog After the Global Catalog Is Restarted (247263)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q247263

SUMMARY

When there are multiple global catalog servers and one of these is restarted, DSAccess may not immediately use the global catalog that was restarted.

MORE INFORMATION

When you restart the global catalog, the global catalog is detected by DSAccess as one of the available global catalogs in its list. However, DSAccess has an internal timer that is hard coded to five minutes for which time DSAccess does not attempt to contact the global catalog if the previous attempt to use it (LDAP connection attempts) didn't work
