Portable Does Not Connect Through Docking Station NIC After Hibernation (247153)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q247153 SYMPTOMS
When you place an undocked portable computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional into hibernation mode and then dock the computer, the computer cannot connect through the docking station network adapter after it comes out of hibernation.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you attempt warm docking (docking or undocking while a portable computer is in hibernation mode) on a portable computer that has an advanced power management basic input/output system (APM BIOS). Windows 2000 supports warm docking only on portable computers running an advanced configuration power interface (ACPI) BIOS.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, restart the portable computer and then connect through the network adapter on the docking station.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
