Error Message "0x8007007a" When Using Task Scheduler (246865)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using the add-on Task Scheduler tool that is included with Internet Explorer 5, you may receive any of the following errors messages:

0x8007007a: The data area passed to a system call is too small.

0x80090016: keyset does not exist

Note that this problem occurs only when you install Internet Explorer 5 on a Windows NT 4.0-based computer with 128-bit encryption, on which Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 was installed with the Task Scheduler add-on.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:

Install Internet Explorer 5.01. You can obtain Internet Explorer 5.01 from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie
After you install Internet Explorer 5.01, delete the following registry key:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\UserKeys\Schedule
