BUG: OLAP Repository Migration Wizard Fails When Repository is Empty (246722)

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to migrate the OLAP repository from Access to SQL Server or from an existing SQL Server to another SQL Server, the process will fail if the OLAP repository does not have at least one OLAP Services database defined on the server.

The following error message appears:
Migrate Repository Wizard

Error copying repository data.

WORKAROUND

To migrate the OLAP Services repository, create at least one OLAP Services database on the server prior to migrating the repository.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
