PUB2000: Error Message When You Print to a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8500DN (246610)

When you attempt to print a Microsoft Publisher 2000 publication to a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8500DN printer on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
There is a problem with your printer settings. Your printer has given Publisher an invalid value, and the printer could not be correctly initialized. Please check your printer settings in the Windows control panel.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8500DN PCL printer driver version 1.0.0090 is not compatible with Publisher 2000.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, install the PostScript driver for the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8500DN printer.
