Authorize Command Is Missing in Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Snap-in (246603)

SYMPTOMS

After you start the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server service on your Windows 2000-based DHCP server, you may be unable to authorize the server in Active Directory because the Authorize command is missing from the Action menu in the DHCP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you log on to the Windows 2000-based DHCP server using an account that does not have domain administrator credentials when you are attempting to authorize the server in Active Directory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, log on to the Windows 2000-based DHCP server using an account that has domain administrator credentials.

NOTE: The account you use must have Full Control rights to the DHCP Server container object in Active Directory.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
