Error message when you try to import a QIF file for an investment account in Money: "An unaccepted QIF transaction header was encountered" (246027)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download the QIF file to the hard disk, and then import the file as a new file or as a recovered account. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Have the download prompt you to save the file to the hard disk. To do this, right-click Start, and then click Explore. Microsoft Windows Explorer opens.
2. On the View menu or on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the File Types tab.
4. In the Registered file types box, click Quicken Import File, and then click Edit (if you are using Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98) or Advanced (if you are using Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP or a later version).
5. Click to select the Confirm open after download check box, and then click OK.
6. Close Windows Explorer.

When you download a QIF file, you are prompted to open the file or save it to a disk. Choose the option to save the file to disk.

After you download and save the QIF file to a location on the hard disk, import the file into Money from its current location. Then, follow these steps to import the statement information into Money.

Note When you import a QIF file, Money may create duplicate transactions in the account into which you import the QIF file. For information about how to remove duplicate transactions, see the "Find out the issues related to .QIF import files" topic in Money online Help.

To import the QIF file into Money, follow these steps:

1. On the File menu in Money, click Import.
2. Select the investment QIF file that you downloaded from your broker, and then click Import.
3. Click As a new or recovered account, and then click OK.
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to finish importing the QIF file.
