PRJ2000: Some Bars Not Drawn in Portfolio View (245928)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project Central, when you view your portfolio and apply a view that is based on the Detail Gantt, the Leveling Gantt, or the Tracking Gantt view, some task bars are not displayed, such as Slippage, Delay, Preleveled Task, and Preleveled Split.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You view a portfolio view in Microsoft Project Central that is based on the Detail Gantt, the Leveling Gantt, or the Tracking Gantt view.

    -and-
  • The portfolio view does not include the fields that the missing task bars would use.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, include the following fields, depending on the type of view that you want to use:
  • Tracking Gantt: Baseline Start and Baseline Finish
  • Leveling Gantt: Preleveled Start, Preleveled Finish, and Early Start
  • Detail Gantt: Baseline Start
NOTE: You cannot show slack in the view, because the Free Slack field is not available for portfolio views.

To add fields to the view, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Microsoft Project Central as Administrator.
  2. Under Admin, click Manage Views.
  3. Under Manage Views, click Specify Views.
  4. Click the portfolio view that is not displaying the task bars.
  5. Click Modify View.
  6. Under Available Fields, click the appropriate fields that are needed to show the task bars for your view, as described earlier.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Log off from Microsoft Project Central as Administrator.

    You can now log on to Microsoft Project Central as the user and view the task bars.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
