PRJ2000: Missing Entries in Custom Text Field Value List (245888)

In Microsoft Project, when you select text from a value list in a custom Text field, or when you edit the value list for a custom Text field, some values may not be displayed.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you do the following: - You create a custom Text field that uses a value list.
- When creating or editing the value list, you enter duplicate values that differ only by variations in capitalization.
For example, in the Value List dialog box, you enter the values "Tom" in Row 1 and "tom" in Row 2. Only the first entry in the list (Tom in Row 1) is displayed.
This behavior occurs because the value list for custom Text fields is not case sensitive, and duplicate entries are not allowed. After you click OK in the Value List dialog box, Microsoft Project checks the value list for duplicate entries. If duplicates are found, only the first instance is retained, and any other instances are removed from the list.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use only distinct values to create a value list for a custom Text field.
MORE INFORMATION
When you select the Append New Entries to the Value List check box in the Value List dialog box, new entries in the custom Text field that contain the same value as an existing value list item but have a different character case are not used and are not appended to the value list.
