SYMPTOMS

After you install Intuit Quicken 2000, you may receive the following error message when you shut down or restart your computer:
STOP 0x0000009f Driver_Power_State_Failure

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, disable the Quicken 2000 Download Manager feature by using any of the following methods.

Method 1

Disable the Quicken 2000 Download Manager feature in Quicken 2000:
  1. In Quicken 2000, click Options on the Edit menu.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. In the Background Downloading section, click Don't use background downloading.

Method 2

Disable the Quicken 2000 Download Manager feature in Device Manager:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, double-click System, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  2. On the View menu, click Show hidden devices.
  3. Double-click the Non-Plug and Play Drivers item to expand it.
  4. Right-click the mrtRate driver, and then click Properties.
  5. Click the Driver tab.
  6. In the Current status section, click Stop.
  7. In the Type box in the Startup section, click Disabled.

Method 3

Disable the Quicken 2000 Download Manager feature in Registry Editor:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate and click the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\mrtRate

  3. Double-click the Start value in the right pane.
  4. Change the data value to 4 (hexadecimal), and then click OK.
