This article was previously published under Q245687 SYMPTOMS When a serial port-to-Universal Serial Bus (USB) conversion
hub (such as the Entrega Technologies Multi-Function USB Hub) is used to
synchronize a Pocket PC device to a desktop computer, the following may occur:
CAUSE This issue occurs because the serial port to USB conversion
hub synchronization method is not supported by ActiveSync. Supported
communications methods for ActiveSync are:
- Direct serial cable connection (or serial dial-up with a
modem)
- Infrared connection (IR)
- Ethernet connection
RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, use one of the above supported
methods to communicate between the Pocket PC device and a desktop computer. See
the Help files or the Readme documents for information on configuring these
options. The infrared connection is recommended for systems lacking USB ports.
