The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q245542 SYMPTOMS
You create an COM Add-in for Outlook 2000 that adds menu commands, but duplicate menu commands appear when you switch folders in Outlook.
CAUSE
There is also an Exchange Client Extension installed that adds a menu command, and Outlook does not handle this situation correctly.
RESOLUTION
This problem was fixed in Outlook 2002.
WORKAROUND
Use one of the following methods to work around this problem:
- Do not use the Exchange Client Extension that causes a conflict. To determine what extensions are being used by Outlook:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Other tab, click Advanced Options, and then click Add-in Manager.
- Instead of adding a command to an existing menu, add your own top-level menu to avoid generating a conflict with an Exchange Client Extension.
- Instead of developing a COM add-in, create an Exchange Client Extension to avoid the conflict. However, Exchange Client Extensions need to be developed in C/C++. For more information about developing an extension, see the following Microsoft Web site:
