XCLN: Message Sent from Office Programs Changed to Plain Text upon Receipt (245116)

When you send a mail message from one of the Microsoft Office programs and
you use Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail program, the recipient may get the message in Plain Text regardless of what your e-mail editor is set to in Microsoft Outlook (Microsoft Outlook Rich Text, HTML, and so on).
CAUSE
If you send a message from one of the Microsoft Office programs and you do not type any text into the body of the message, the message will be sent using Plain Text.
WORKAROUND
To send a message from one of the Microsoft Office programs and have it sent in the message format specified in Microsoft Outlook (Microsoft Outlook Rich Text, HTML, and so on), you must type text in the body of the message. For example:
- On the Tools menu in Microsoft Outlook, click Options.
- Click the Mail Format tab, and select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text from the Send in this message format list.
- Click OK.
- Open or switch to Microsoft Word.
- On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Word 2000, you click Mail Recipient (as attachment). - Address the message to yourself. Note that the title bar of the new message indicates Rich Text Format (RTF). Click Send.
- Switch to Microsoft Outlook, and open the message you just sent to yourself. It is in Plain Text.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5.
- Address the message to yourself. Note that the title bar of the new message indicates RTF. Type some text in the body of the message. Click Send.
- Switch to Microsoft Outlook and open the message you just sent to yourself. It is in RTF.
