SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to open FrontPage 2000, the following error message appears:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message: FRONTPG caused an invalid page fault in MFC42.DLL at address.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if a registry key is damaged or contains an incorrect value.

require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own

Method 2: Correct The Registry
Use Registry Editor to verify that the registry key listed below exists and has the value listed. If needed, edit the value to match the value listed.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\ToolbarsState-Bar0
Value for BarID:
Decimal: 59393
Hexadecimal: e801
To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit and click OK.
- Expand the registry to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\ToolbarsState-Bar0
and then do one of the following:- If the "BarID" Dword value is incorrect:
- Right-click BarID Dword value, and click Modify on the shortcut menu that appears.
- Select Hexadecimal option, and change the ValueData field to e801.
- Click OK.

- If the "BarID" Dword value is missing:
- Click New Dword value on the Edit menu.
- Name the new Dword value "BarID".
- Right-click BarID Dword value, and click Modify on the shortcut menu that appears.
- Click Hexadecimal option, and change the ValueData field to e801.
- Click OK.
