How To Show Only GAL in the AddressBook Dialog Box Using CDO (1.x) (245043)

SUMMARY

The AddressBook method of the Session object displays a dialog box that allows you to select entries from the address book. It may sometimes be necessary to restrict the dialog box to show only Global Address List (GAL) entries but not Contacts or Personal Address Book (PAB) entries.

The address books available to you in the AddressBook dialog box depends on what profile you are currently logged on with and what information services are set up in that profile. For example, if the logged on profile includes Microsoft Exchange Server, Personal Address Book and Outlook Address Book information services, the AddressBook dialog box will list GAL, PAB and Contacts entries.

Using CDO (1.1, 1.2, 1.21), there is no programmatic way to exclude some of the information services from the profile.

If you want the AddressBook dialog box to show only GAL entries, you have two options:

Logon to a stored profile that only includes Microsoft Exchange Server information service.
Create a profile using the ProfileInfo parameter at Logon. Please note that the ProfileInfo parameter is only used by applications interfacing with Microsoft Exchange Server.
