OFF4: "The Finder Needs Your Attention" Error Message When You Run Setup on Mac OS 9 (245003)

When you run the Setup program for Microsoft Office, you may receive the following message:
The Finder needs your attention. Please select the Finder from the Application menu.
When you click Finder on the Application menu, you receive the following error message:
The application "Microsoft Office Setup" has unexpectedly quit, possibly because the server that contains it has been disconnected.
CAUSE
These errors occur when you install the versions of Office listed at the beginning of this article under Mac OS 9.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, do not click Finder on the Application menu when the first message appears. If you ignore the alert and continue with Office Setup, you will not see the second error that stops Office Setup.
STATUS
This problem does not occur with Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition running under Mac OS 9.0. It also does not occur if you are installing Microsoft Office 4.2.x under Mac OS 8.6 or earlier.
