SBS 4.5 Upgrade (VUP) Cannot Find Files on CD-ROM 2 (244941)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5
This article was previously published under Q244941 SYMPTOMS
When you are upgrading Small Business Server (SBS) version 4.0 or 4.0a to version 4.5 using the Value-Added Upgrade (VUP) compact discs, you are prompted to insert CD-ROM 2. After you insert CD-ROM 2, you may receive the following error message:
Please insert Disk #2
This message reoccurs repeatedly, even though you have already inserted CD-ROM 2.
CAUSE
The silk-screened CD-ROM labels have been switched on CD-ROM 2 and CD-ROM 3 in some copies of the product titled "Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5 Upgrade for Users of Small Business Server 4.0" (also known as Value-Added Upgrade, or VUP).
The files and folder trees on the CD-ROMs are correct, but the CD-ROMs have been labeled incorrectly.
RESOLUTION
During the upgrade process, insert CD-ROM 3 when CD-ROM 2 is requested, and vice-versa. You can mark the CD-ROMs correctly with a permanent marker.
NOTE: Make sure to mark the side of the CD-ROM that contains the silk-screened CD-ROM label.
