After you uninstall Outlook Express 5 and revert to Outlook Express 4.x, entries may appear to be missing from the address book. When you add new contacts to the address book, they do not seem to be added.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because uninstalling Outlook Express 5 does not uninstall the Outlook Express 5 version of the Windows Address Book component. Outlook Express 4.x does not display address book items per identity, as does Outlook Express 5. Instead, Outlook Express 4 displays entries that are listed on shared contacts by default.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, uninstall the Windows Address Book component manually:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type the following line in the Open box, and then click OK:
"%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\setup50.exe" /APP:WAB /uninstall
