PPT2000: Using Global Input Method Editors (IMEs) with PowerPoint 2000 (244445)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q244445 SYMPTOMS
After installing the Global Input Method Editor (IME) 5.01 on your computer, when you try to access the IME in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, it is not available.
CAUSE
PowerPoint 2000 does not support Global IMEs. You must use PowerPoint 2000 with the same Asian language version of Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 95, or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to access the IME for that language.
Global IMEs work on any computer running Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 with Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, and are supported by Word 2000, Outlook 98, and Outlook Express 4.0 or later.
MORE INFORMATION
An Input Method Editor (IME) is a program that allows you to type Asian text in programs, by converting your keystrokes into Asian characters. Different Asian languages require different IMEs; for example, to enter Japanese text, use the Japanese IME.
Microsoft Windows 2000 and Asian versions of Microsoft Windows 95/98 include one or more IMEs. All versions of Windows 2000 include an IME for each Asian language. You cannot install or upgrade IMEs on a system that doesn't already support IMEs in the same language that you are installing.
