SYMPTOMS

If you try to download clip art from the Microsoft Design Gallery Live Web site and you are running Clip Gallery for the Macintosh, you cannot use the downloaded clip art.

If you double-click the downloaded CIL file, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Could not find the application program that created the document named "filename.cil".

To open the document, select an alternate program, with or without translation:
The downloaded clip art has a CIL file name extension, and you cannot import it into the Clip Gallery. You are not able to use the CIL file in any program on the Macintosh.

CAUSE

The CIL file format contains keywords and category information for the clip art represented in each CIL file. There is no CIL handler for the Macintosh.

Microsoft Design Gallery Live is not intended to work with Microsoft Clip Gallery Macintosh Edition. CIL files and Microsoft Design Gallery Live are designed to be used with Microsoft Clip Gallery for Windows.
