WD2000: Starting Word with the "/a" Switch Resets Some Word Options (243966)

When you use the /a command-line switch to start Word for troubleshooting situations, the following Word options are reset to their default values:
- Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row
- The Microsoft Office Assistant
NOTE: The Microsoft Office Assistant is reset back to Clippit! if you start Word with the /a switch and all other Microsoft Office programs are not running.
WORKAROUND
After you restart Microsoft Word normally (without using the /a switch), reset your Word options back to the way you want them.
Change the Toolbars Share One Row Option- On the Tools menu, click Customize.
- Click the Options tab.
- Click to clear the Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row check box.
- Click Close.
Change the Microsoft Office Assistant- Right-click the Office Assistant and then click Choose Assistant.
- On the Gallery tab, click Next or Back to choose the assistant you want.
- Click OK.
