Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum now available for download (243957)

INTRODUCTION

If you have a licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2000 Developer, you can download Microsoft Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum, also known as Art2kmin.exe. Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum lets you create a package that includes Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum but that does not include the files to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. The advantage of Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum is that it does not require as much disk space for the run-time files. This version requires approximately 70 megabytes (MB). The Access Run-Time Minimum version that includes the Setup files for Internet Explorer 5 requires approximately 150 MB.

You can use Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum if you are distributing an application to users who already have Internet Explorer 3.01 or later installed on their computers.

Note This is not the Access Service Release 1 (SR-1) version of Access Run-Time Minimum. The Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5 CD and the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Service Release 1 (MOD SR-1) Fulfillment CD are no longer available through the Microsoft Order Desk as of January 1, 2004. Packages of Microsoft Office 2000 Developer in the retail channel will eventually contain the latest version that is Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5.

Installation Art2kmin.exe

Note If the contents of the Access Runtime folder that are included on the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer CD have been copied to the Program Files\Microsoft Office 2000\ODETools\V9\Runtime folder, the Package and Deployment Wizard always uses that version.

To install Art2kmin.exe, double-click Art2kmin.exe in Windows Explorer to expand the Setup files. By default, the files are put in the C:\Art2kmin Setup folder.

When you want to create a package that uses the Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum, point to the folder that the files were expanded to. You can create packages that use Access 2000 Run-Time Minimum and avoid the message that the Access Run-Time files could not be automatically located. To do this, copy the contents of the C:\Art2kmin Setup folder to the Program Files\Microsoft Office 2000\ODETools\V9\Runtime folder.
