OL98: Incorrect Recipients Are Selected When You Use Multiple Offline Address Books (243902)

SYMPTOMS

When you use multiple offline address books with Outlook, an incorrect recipient may be selected when you perform an ambiguous name search by using an offline address book after you previously performed an ambiguous name search that utilized a different offline address book. The incorrectly selected recipient does appear in the To box, but this may not be apparent to the sender and could lead to misdirected mail.

CAUSE

Outlook incorrectly utilizes the cached information from the previously utilized ambiguous name search of a different offline address book.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
