OL97: Japanese Version of Outlook 97 Doesn't Include All Recipients in Mailto Link (243843)

SYMPTOMS

A new Rich Text message that includes "mailto:user1;user2" does not list all the intended recipients in the mail message that is generated when you click the mailto link. The To field will contain only the first recipient.

CAUSE

The code that parses names in the mailto string is stopping on a NULL value that is placed temporarily in the string.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
