Error Message May Be Displayed When Viewing the Windows Media Home Page (243709)

SYMPTOMS

When you go to the Microsoft Windows Media home page (http://www.windowsmedia.com), click the Radio link, and then click to listen to a radio station, the following error message may be displayed:
The page cannot be displayed. The page you're looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you perform a minimal installation of Internet Explorer 5.x and/or Microsoft Windows Media Player is not installed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, install a newer version of Windows Media Player:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools, and then click Add/Remove.
  3. Click Add a component, click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen to install Windows Media Player.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

This issue is being investigated to improve the user experience with the Windows Media home page.
