OFF97: How to Update an Administrative Installation with the ODBC Vulnerability Patch (243689)

To update your administrative installation point with the Office 97 ODBC Driver Vulnerability Security Update:

1. Point your Web browser to the following Web site:

   http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3EFBE71A-00BB-48CE-930A-47FB9827E1E7&displaylang=EN

2. Click Download Now!. Click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.
3. Click Save.
4. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box

   jetcopkg /c:"jetcoupd.exe /a <Admin Path> /i <Admin Path>\<Inf Filename>"

   where <Admin Path> is the path to your administrative installation point for Office 97 and <Inf Filename> is the name of the .inf file for your version of Office. For example, if your server is named Appsvr, your administrative installation point is named Off97, and you are running Office 97 Professional, the command would be as follows:

   jetcopkg /c:"jetcoupd.exe /a \\Appsvr\Off97\Msoffice /i \\Appsvr\Off97\Msoffice\Off97pro.inf"

5. Click Yes when you are asked to install the patch.
6. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.

At this point, your administrative installation point has been updated. Any new installations that you run from this administrative installation point will include the security updates included in the ODBC Security Vulnerability patch.

If you have workstations that are running one or more components of Office from the administrative installation point, then you need to install the update on each computer.
