FP2000: Text Overlay Only Appears on First Image Inserted on Page (243653)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000
  • FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions from Microsoft

This article was previously published under Q243653

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a .jpg image onto a page multiple times, after you apply a text overlay to each image, the text overlay only appears on the first image that you insert.

CAUSE

FrontPage converts JPEG (.jpg) images to a GIF (.gif) format when you apply a text overlay. If the .gif image is not saved to the Web before you apply text overlays to the other images that you insert, the text overlay from the first image inserted is the only one that is saved.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Resave the Page That Contains the Images

After you initially save the page, save the page again.

Method 2: Save the Image as a GIF File

Save the .gif image to the Web before you insert it multiple times on a page. To save the image to the Web as a .gif file, do the following:
  1. Insert the image onto the page, and apply a text overlay to it.
  2. You are prompted to save the image as a .gif file. Click OK.
  3. After you apply the text overlay, save the page.
After the page is saved, you can place the .gif image onto the page multiple times and apply text overlays to them.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft FrontPage 2000.
