This article was previously published under Q243468

SYMPTOMS

On a source-routed Token Ring network, your Windows NT-based computer may experience delays or loss of connectivity when you attempt to communicate with other hosts using TCP/IP.

Investigation using Ipconfig or the route print command reveals that the IP address of your default gateway has changed to the address of your local host.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if TCP/IP receives an invalid ARP request by way of a new source route in which the sender's protocol address field in the ARP packet is 0.0.0.0.
