NetMeeting Does Not Play Sounds Using the ATI All-In-Wonder Video Adapter (243132)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the ATI All-In-Wonder adapter for your video capture device, you may not be able to use the microphone and you cannot hear any audio when you are using NetMeeting.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To resolve this issue disable the ATI driver from changing your sound card settings. To do this, add the NoRecLevelMute DWORD value with the value data 1 to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Capture Driver\Settings\Sounds

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Under Status, double-click the speaker icon.
  2. Click Options, and then click Properties.
  3. Click Recording, and then click OK.
  4. Click the microphone as the recording input source.
