SYMPTOMS

When you are in a call with clients who are using both NetMeeting 2.x clients and NetMeeting 3.0 or 3.01 clients, the 2.x clients may not be able to see everyone in the Chat window.

CAUSE

NetMeeting 3.0 or 3.01 clients lead with initiating the H.323 protocol while initiating a call. This can cause the T.120 protocol used by Chat to not update appropriately on the 2.x clients.

WORKAROUND

Have the 2.x clients hang up from the call and call again.

STATUS

Upgrading to the latest version of NetMeeting resolves this issue. You can download the latest version of NetMeeting from:

MORE INFORMATION

If a NetMeeting 2.x client is part of a chat and a 3.0 or 3.01 client joins, the title bar on the 2.x Chat window may not recognize the new client and update. It receives chat messages from the new node, but the name of the new node is "Unknown."
