Database Region Fails After Publish (243090)
The information in this article applies to:
- FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions from Microsoft
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q243090 SYMPTOMS
When you publish a Web site that contains a database region that is located in a subweb, the database region fails with the following error message:
Database Results Error
The database connection named 'database' is undefined.
This problem can occur if:
* the connection has been removed from the web
* the file 'global.asa' is missing or contains errors
* the root folder does not have Scripting permissions enabled
* the web is not marked as an Application Root
CAUSE
When a subweb is published to an IIS computer, FrontPage creates the subweb as an application root. This causes a problem for the ASP page because the Global.asa file is in the wrong place based on the application settings.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior do the following:
- Click Start and point to Programs.
- Point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack and then point to Microsoft Internet Information Server.
- Click Internet Service Manager.
- Click the plus sign (+) next to the Web site in question and expand the folders until you get to the subweb containing the ASP page that references the database.
- Right-click the subweb and click Properties.
- On the Directory tab, click the Remove button in the Application Settings.
- Click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
