The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
This article was previously published under Q241847 SYMPTOMS
Server Manager displays Windows 2000 servers as Windows NT 5.0 servers. Note that this does not change the functionality of the server or the communication between the servers.
CAUSE
Windows 2000 was called Windows NT 5.0 in early development. Before release, the name was changed to Windows 2000. Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 using the down-level Server Manager tool still reports Windows 2000 servers as Windows NT 5.0.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
