Internet Explorer 5 Included with Office 2000 Does Not Retain the Automatic Configuration Script Address (241716)

SYMPTOMS

The version of Internet Explorer included with Microsoft Office 2000 does not retain the automatic configuration script address when you click to clear the Use automatic configuration script check box. Instead, the address is deleted and you must enter the address again to be able to use this feature.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next release of Internet Explorer that contains this hotfix.
