PUB 2000: Columns Incorrectly Aligned in Pasted Yearly Calendar (241488)

CAUSE

This behavior can occur, because the yearly calendar in Publisher uses a different Default tab stops setting than other Publisher publications.

Because the columns in the yearly calendar are aligned using the default tab stops, when the calendar is pasted into another publication with a different Default tab stops setting, the column alignment is adjusted to match the new tab stops.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods.

Insert the Calendar As a Picture

With this method, the calendar is displayed and printed correctly; however, you cannot edit the calendar because it is a static picture.

To insert the calendar as a picture:

Open the yearly calendar publication.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the Edit menu, click Copy.
Open the publication into which you want to paste the yearly calendar.
Click the location where you want to paste the calendar.
On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
In the As box, click Picture, and then click OK.

Change the Default Tab Stop Setting

Use this method if you have already pasted the calendar into the publication or if you want to be able to edit the calendar.

To change the Default tab stop setting:

Open the publication into which you want to paste the calendar.
Paste the calendar into the document.
Click one of the months in the calendar (the month should be outlined with a red border).
On the Format menu, click Tabs.
In the Default tab stops box, delete the default value, type 0.22, and then click OK.

NOTE: Depending on the yearly calendar you originally chose, you may need to change the Default tab stops setting to a different value between 0.1" and 0.5". If the columns in your calendar are not aligned correctly, repeat steps three through five, changing the Default tab stops setting slightly to a value between 0.1" and 0.5" until the columns are correctly aligned.
