SYMPTOMS
When you save a document in Microsoft Word 2000 on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, using a Document Management System (DMS) method (such as PC Docs, DOCS Open or PowerDOCS), the file name may be garbled and saved with box characters.
Additionally, when you open or save a DMS file in Word, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Invalid Document ID
The document name or path is not valid. It may contain characters which are not part of the current language of the operating system. Try renaming the file or opening it with the language of the system set to the language used when it was created.
NOTE: The text of the error message may vary.
RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
To resolve this issue, if you use PCDocs, DOCSOpen, or PowerDOCS, add the ANSIOnNT key to the Windows Registry. To do so, locate and double-click the WORDIN80.REG or WORDONNT.REG file in your DOCSOPEN\PROGS folder.
NOTE: The WORDONNT.REG file applies to DOCS Open 3.9 users only.
This adds the following key to the Windows Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ODMA32\ANSIOnNT
